:: COMPOSITIONS ::

Each film-coated tablet contains:
Risedronate sodium 6 mg

 
:: INDICATIONS ::
  • Treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
  • Treatment and prevention of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis.
 
:: CONTRAINDICATIONS ::
  • Hypocalcemia.
  • Known hypersensitivity to any component of this product.
  • Inability to stand or sit upright for at least 30 minutes.
 
:: DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION ::

The recommended dose is 5 mg daily, 30 minutes before the first food or drink of the day other than water.

 
:: WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS ::
  • Hypocalcemia should be treated before starting risedronate therapy.
  • Patients should receive supplemental calcium and vitamin D if dietary intake is adequate.
  • Risedronate is not recommended for use in patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 ml/min).
  • Pregnancy and lactation.
 
:: ADVERSE REACTIONS ::

Back, chest or abdominal pain (unspecified), hypertension, flulike syndrome, peripheral edema, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, arthralgia, joint disorder, depression, headache, dizziness, myalgia, rash, cataract, pharyngitis, rhinitis, urinary tract infection (unspecified).

 
:: DRUG INTERACTIONS ::
  • Antacids or mineral supplements containing divalent cations.
  • Hormone replacement therapy.
  • Acetosal/NSAIDs.
  • H2 blockers and proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
  • Biphophonates are known to interfere with the use of bone imaging agents.
